Myanmar Kyaukse Project holds the completion ceremony
At 9:00 a.m. of May 17, 2019, the grand completion ceremony of Myanmar Kyaukse Project was organized in the project site. The Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, MOEE Minister U Win Khaing, Mandalay Chief Officer Dr. Zaw Myint Oo as well asthe related officers attended the ceremony.
In her opening address, the State Counselor said it has been found that Myanmar is meeting just under 50 per cent of its electricity needs, which is one of the major requirements for the development of the country, while most neighboring countries have achieved over 80 per cent, over 90 per cent, and cent-per-cent electrification. Therefore, the country needs to make the utmost effort to increase production of electricity, she said adding.
Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing explained about works conducted on the power station and works conducted on providing electricity to the whole country。 He said that this project can generate 1。274 billion kilowatt-hours and benefit 2。7 million Myanmar people。
Myanmar Kyaukse Project fulfills local residents’ electrical demands when power consumption peaks, and shows SEPCOIII’s strong project execution and international competition.
